Question Trial Ending... Which Game to Buy??

Hi all!

Just getting into GW and enjoying my trial but I'm getting annoyed at its' restrictions and it's ending soon.

I want to buy the full game to start playing properly (Prophecies first), however there are so many different versions of the game out there I just don't know which is the best to buy?!

There's the basic game of course but I can see 'Game of the Year', 'Special Edition', 'Collector's Edition', 'Platinum Edition' versions of Prophecies.

What would you guys recommend I get? I've seen varying prices...

Hope someone can help! Thanks!

"Game of The Year" (GOTY in short) is the Prophecies plus some goodies inside the box (CD of the music, trial keys, maps, artbook). "Special Edition" is, if I'm not mistaken, the European equivalent of GOTY.

"Collector's edition" is something extremely rare nowadays (so very expensive) where you have a cardboard boxes with some more stuff and a special in-game cosmetic effect.

"Platinum edition" gives you the normal Prophecies game plus the expansion "Eye of the North" (which expands the world of Tyria and provides new "advanced" stuff). It's usually a good deal to get this one, unless you can find another one that is cheap (if that's what you're after).

Don't forget that there are 2 more campaigns after Prophecies, one called "Factions" and one called "Nightfall", and they also come in normal boxes or "Collector's".

Btw where do you live?

If you're european you can buy the complete collection (3 campaigns + expansion) for something like ~35€ depending on when you're buying, cheaper and easier.

If you're not, you can buy the triology (just the 3 campaigns) and buy the expansion EOTN seperately. This would be prefered than just buying the Platinum edition even if you don't get EOTN.

Both choices are cheaper compared to buying Prophecies only or the platinum edition and you get the 3 campaigns that pack a more content that EOTN.

Thanks for the replies =]

I live in the UK. So looks like 'Special Edition', 'Platinum Edition' or 'Complete Collection' would be my ideal choices and I guess it's down to whether I want to take advantage of the value of buying the extras too or just the main game.

I don't think I will be able to play the game a hell of a lot as I'm pretty busy so I'll probably end up playing one campaign for a while for now. So I'm thinking if I can pick up a 'Platinum Edition', I should be satisfied.... Hmm...

Just thought I would clarify that each game is stand-alone and features a campaign of a similiar length to Prophecies (Factions is shorter and NF is marginally shorter). These campaigns have other features to make up for the fact they are shorter.

The Complete Collection is a great deal, and I highly recommend it. However if you are still deciding wether GW is the game for you then the Platinum Edition (Prophecies+EOTN) is the best for you.

Complete edition: http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/6279...t.html?cur=257

Platinum edition: http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/3360...&ob=Price&fb=0

So for the extra pound, I'd say you should go for the complete.

All depends on your budget have a look at this uk search engine

http://www.find-games.co.uk/

Cheapest I can see is ??18-95 for the collectors edition and postage is free.
I don't know anything about the supplier "MyMemory"

I normally use play.com where it is ??24-99

I doubt you will find a Prophesies collectors or special edition under ??100 but the other 2 are available at more reasonable prices.

I'd start with prophesies.
gamestation.co.uk is cheap and ships free within UK.

Well, if you're die hard on the Collectors Edition, they sell for as little as 25 pounds here in Denmark. Have a look yourself right here http://www.spilpriser.dk/Search/Prod...&cpath=3-9-232 where you even can buy Guild Wars 2 :-). If you're interested, and feeling confident in it, I can send the games to you.

If you like the game, buy the pack that has everything, you won't regret it.
